An After Effects Arrivals Board Tutorial Part 1: An Introduction to After Effects The first hour in this tutorial teaches an overview of the user interface, creating and using compositions, keyframing and using the timeline, looping animation, editing motions paths, and plenty more basics. This is an essential starter course for anyone not already familiar with After Effects. Our instructor also points out some similarities between AE and Flash, that long time CartoonSmart students will find helpful. Part 2: Creating the Arrivals Board Effect The last two hours focus on creating the main project above. You'll learn how to apply filter effects and masks to comps, animate 3D transformations, include a camera, loop sounds, and plenty more tips about using the timeline and compositions. You'll also learn how to use a single letter flipping sequence to create an entire board of words without having to create the effect over and over again each time. This makes use of some simple scripting in After Effects.
